Use the distributive property to make multiplication easier
The distributive property of multiplication tells us that 5 x (2 + 3) is the same as 5 x 2 + 5 x 3. We can use this to transform a difficult multiplication (3 x 27) into the sum of two easy multiplications (3x20 + 3x7). In these worksheets, students use the distributive property to multiply 1 by 2 digit numbers.
