Scholastic
Scholastic has put together great lists for different age groups as part of its summer reading challenge. The theme this year is “Be a Reading Superhero”. Here’s their list.
New York Public Library Summer Reading Challenge
NYPL asks kids to challenge themselves to read 20 minutes a day. This page outlines the challenge: it outlines the participating libraries, you can print off a calendar and book log and it provides links to the all-important book lists – categorized by grade level. There’s even a book list for adults – hint, hint.
The American Library Association – Newbery and Caldecott Awards
If you’re looking for the latest and greatest in children’s literature, look no further than the Newbery and Caldecott Awards. For more than eight decades, librarians from the Association for Library Service to Children select winning and honor books. Here are the 2016 list of winners.
National Endowment for the Humanities
If you want to introduce some of the classics to your kids, this is the list to go to. Segmented into sections for kindergarten – grade 3, grade 4-6 and grade 7-8, these lists include must-read titles, such as The Railway Children, Winnie-the-Pooh and The Tale of Peter Rabbit.
