Mobile Revolution Creates New Teaching Challenges

What sort of future are our kids facing?  What will their approach be to learning when they enter higher education?  Many believe that it’s changing and rapidly – thanks to technology.

At the recent Educause 2011 annual conference, Lee Rainie, Director of the Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, spoke about “As learning goes mobile”.  In the research group’s latest findings he speaks to the increase in use of mobile devices, such as smartphones and Tablet computers, among young adults.

As part of this slide show packed with interesting numbers, he talks how the combination of the mobile revolution with the social revolution is producing new kinds of learning and knowledge-sharing environments.  This will certainly present new challenges to teachers as students become different kinds of learners.
