Summer is fast approaching, and a break from school shouldn’t be an excuse to take a break from learning. You can help your children hone their language skills, and maybe even develop new ones, while having fun this summer.
Road Trips
For many people, a large part of summer break ends up being spent in a car, whether it be traveling to a vacation destination or just traveling around town doing errands. The good news is . . . a car ride presents the perfect opportunity to use music as a tool for learning language skills.
Music and Language Learning
Studies have shown that music can facilitate language learning, and a child’s ability to distinguish musical rhythm is related to a child’s capacity for understanding grammar. With this in mind, coupled with the fact that there are several CDs for children with songs about the alphabet, vocabulary and grammar, now is a great time to select CDs (or MP3s) for your summer travels.
