Computer Programming for Kids

From time to time we have customers ask us of we know of any good sites that offer beginner computer programming lessons for kids. So we thought we’d give you a rundown of the ones we have come across, tried and would recommend for any kids interested in learning the basics.

MIT’s Scratch

Scratch is a free programming language targeting young learners. The beauty of this program is the interactive way in which kids code in building blocks and see how their code affects their animation immediately.

 Although aimed at adult learners, Codecademy is a great site for learning basic programming skills for kids too. It truly is focused purely on learning to write code.

Similar in structure to code cademy, Code School teaches programming with video lessons, challenges and screencasts.

Code.org provides self-directed interactive tutorials for beginner learners.

And last but not least, the trusted Khan Academy keep expanding on their subjects, and now offer computer programming tutorials.
