We’ve added a series of spelling workbooks for grades 1 to 5 in our K5 bookstore.
The series cover fundamental word groupings for each grade. Several exercises cover the spelling of these groups of words. For example, in our grade 2 workbook, lessons 2 covers ft words: sift, loft, craft, left, drift, shift, soft and swift.
Students are then given six different exercises to practice these words. For this particular lesson it starts with a matching words to pictures exercise:
The next exercise asks kids to fill in the missing letters.
The third exercise covers matching a clue to a choice of words – to prove understanding of the word.
The fourth exercise has the student reading a passage, where words are misspelled. They’ll have to identify the words and write the correct spelling for each word.
The fifth exercise for this lesson asks students to write a sentence about one of the practice words.
The sixth exercise for this lesson is a word search, helping students focus further on how the word is spelled.
